Tallbacka in 2025
The year 2025 is marked by a search for a sustainable concept for the preparation and implementation of the growing season. In addition, there was concern about how the personal resources would be enough to carry out expansions and changes in the garden. The focus was on perennials and especially various species of asparagus and hostas that we had grown. The fence against the neighbor also had to be renewed and replaced by a green-painted steel fence.
The Fairy garden
The whole season started with us shaping the so-called forest garden slope with compost and soil into arable land. There we planted various wholes around fairy tales and myths to form a fairy tale garden. Through plants and paths there are now associations with Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Goldilocks. Closest to the garden we planted different species of wild berries under the Yggdrasil ash tree. The season ended with a birdhouse for winter feeding being placed in the fairy tale garden.
Olofs’ source
A larger project was the implementation of Olofskällan. On 3.3 we had an approximately 8×10 m pond dug (max. depth 1.8 m) with water flowing in from the exit ditch. Silver willow, cottonwood, ostrich fern and spring fennel are among the edible aquatic plants at the spring. Blue and yellow crocuses, red birch rhododendron and apple trees form the surroundings. Water lilies were planted in the spring itself and we built a bridge over the outflow from the spring, which was completed on 26.7. On 29.7, on St. Olof’s Day, emeritus pastor Henric Schmidt inaugurated Olofskällan. The tuba tamers contributed with the inauguration music. Tallboden
Towards the end of the season on 14.9, construction began on a sales point, Tallboden, at the entrance to the garden. The idea is to be able to sell the surplus from the garden there 24/7. We also offer our partners the opportunity to sell their products in Tallboden. In the spring of 2026, we will start sales operations there. Payment method Mobile Pay.
